Having been online for over 6 years we found out about some right cool places to go on the internet and want to recommend them to you. They are mostly useful if you are in a band or a fan of the type of music Gamefoe covered. Whatever, have a read.

Zines

So there are still places to read about music on the ol' interweb. The ones we would recommend most are DrownedInSound (because of the quality of their writers, and some of their writer's talent for making me feel interested in bands I would otherwise ignore), Punktastic (for the UK 'punk' etc scene this site is top for news, although I find the forums much more interesting these days), and Collective-Zine can be worth a read from time to time for the more obscure type stuff (it covers the DIY scene very, very well).

In a band?

...then you might find these paragraphs quite handy! We used Awesome Badges when we needed to get badges made and they were very efficient and friendly (and cheap!) so check them out if you need badges.

When we were looking about for someone to press the Day Of The Fight CD for us the best quotes and most recommendations led us to a place called SFHUK but they have since gone bust (read that link if you have the time, quite amusing, if a little sad). If it wasn't for the fear of masive import duty and postage we would have went direct with GZCD in the Czech Republic who were cheaper and also came recommended. However, the import tax is negated now by the fact the Czech Republic is part of the EU so it might be worth checking out. SFHUK were just a UK broker who went to GZCD anyway, apparently.

We never did get t-shirts made but the three places that always came recommended to us and that we would have ended up choosing one of were Phantom Screenprint, Shirty Something, and Monster Screen Prints. All three of them places are UK based as far as I'm aware.

Want to sell your band's music on Itunes but don't know how? I haven't actually used this company but everyone seems to be talking about TuneCore for digital distribution so check them out.

Web Stuff

Initially the domain was purchased at BritishNIC.com, however DO NOT buy a domain from there because as well as being overpriced their customer service is utter crap. I recently renewed the domain at 1and1 after hearing nothing but good from them, so worth a punt.

The site has been hosted at web-mania for the last few years. It is not the best hosting but it is VERY cheap and reasonably reliable with decent support so if you are on real shoestring then I would recommend it. However, I am currently in the process in deciding between Dreamhost or Lunarpages to switch over to but thats only because I want to upgrade for various non-Gamefoe reasons.

Hope any of the helps!
